Designed in 1904 by world renowned Catalan architect – Antoni Gaudi, Casa Batllo is a total restoration from an old built. Gaudi used his usual concept of Modernism in this masterpiece. The facade is made from skulls and bones, complimented by oval shaped windows and tiled with colorful mosaic in natural coral colors.
The roof terrace is where imagination and creativity are largely influenced. This is the area for great poetic value, which also provide an excellent view over the city. In addition, the roof is decorated with four chimney stacks covered by a and artistic design of a dragon’s tail.
Other famous building designed by Gaudi in Barcelona are Casa Mila, Sagrada Familia, Park Guell, Casa Vicens, Palau Guell etc.
Antoni Gaudi died on 10th June 1926 after being knocked down by a tram while making his way to the Sagrada Familia, one of his greatest work which is still being built today, with targeted completion date set in 2017.
